We are on a mission to change how we serve youth by working alongside youth colleagues and creating systems that support their participation\, contributions\, and development. Young people deserve a say in youth programming! Come to this session to learn more about MENTOR Virginia’s new Youth Advisory Council and how youth can sign up. We welcome youth\, parents/guardians\, programs\, and other adult allies who are interested in learning more and spreading the word to join us for this session. \nThe MENTOR Virginia Youth Advisory Council is open to youth and young adults who are interested in using their voice to help shape landscape of youth mentoring across the state. Applications for the Youth Advisory Council will open from 2/7/2022 through 2/28/2022. We’re looking for high school students in 9th-12 grade who are interested in engaging in youth advocacy and social justice work. Youth of color and youth who identify as LGBTQQIAA+ are strongly encouraged to apply. \nRegister for this meeting here.

This important annual event is an opportunity for Members of Congress and their staff to connect with mentors\, advocates\, program coordinators\, and young people to talk about the critical issues facing the nation’s youth and legislation they can implement to help expand access to quality mentoring relationships. Youth are welcome at Capitol Hill Day! \nImportant Dates for Capitol Hill Day: \n\nFriday\, Jan. 14: Deadline to sign up for Capitol Hill Day\nMonday\, Jan. 24: Participant virtual training @ 2:30 PM Eastern (required)\nWednesday\, Jan. 26: Capitol Hill Day kick-off event @ 10 AM Eastern (optional)\nWednesday\, Jan. 26: Capitol Hill Day! (required)\n\nHow to Sign-Up: \nIf you are attending the National Mentoring Summit\, you can sign up for Capitol Hill Day when you register. If you have already registered for Capitol Hill Day\, but did not sign up for Capitol Hill Day\, emails sarah@archive.mentorva.org and ask to be added to the list. \n Not attending the National Mentoring Summit? You can still participate in Capitol Hill Day! Fill out this registration form to sign up.
