This important annual event is an opportunity for Members of Congress and their staff to connect with mentors\, advocates\, program coordinators\, and young people to talk about the critical issues facing the nation’s youth and legislation they can implement to help expand access to quality mentoring relationships. Know a young person who wants to share their story and be an advocate for mentoring? Youth are welcome at Capitol Hill Day! \nImportant Dates for Capitol Hill Day: \n\nFriday\, Jan. 14: Deadline to sign up for Capitol Hill Day\nMonday\, Jan. 24: Participant virtual training @ 2:30 PM Eastern (required)\nWednesday\, Jan. 26: Capitol Hill Day kick-off event @ 10 AM Eastern (optional)\nWednesday\, Jan. 26: Capitol Hill Day! (required)\n\nHow to Sign-Up: \nIf you are attending the National Mentoring Summit\, you can sign up for Capitol Hill Day when you register. If you have already registered for Capitol Hill Day\, but did not sign up for Capitol Hill Day\, emails sarah@archive.mentorva.org and ask to be added to the list. \n Not attending the National Mentoring Summit? You can still participate in Capitol Hill Day! Fill out this registration form to sign up. The form must also be filled out for each youth who will participate in Capitol Hill Day. \n Additional Details: \n All meetings with Members of Congress will be scheduled by MENTOR\, and talking points will be provided. Training on how to engage in successful advocacy meetings will also be provided for all participants. SUMMARY:National Mentoring Summit
DESCRIPTION:Register for the Summit here. \nThe National Mentoring Summit is the only national convening of youth mentoring professionals\, researchers\, MENTOR Affiliates\, philanthropic investors\, and government and civic leaders aimed at collectively strengthening and expanding quality mentoring relationships for young people across the country. The 2022 National Mentoring Summit will be held from Wednesday\, January 26th through Friday\, January 28th\, beginning with Capitol Hill Day before two full days of workshops and networking opportunities. The Summit will be a fully virtual event**.  Don’t miss this opportunity to learn from experts in the field\, network with peers\, and celebrate the power of relationships! \nThe 2022 National Mentoring Summit features more than 80 workshops that explore our theme: “Building Relationships\, Advancing the Movement.” This year’s workshops offer a versatile array of prevalent topics such as engaging youth voices to design virtual mentoring programs\, sustaining resilient mentor/mentee relationships\, relationship-centered schools\, fostering leaders and changemakers\, supporting and cultivating youth stories and narrative identity\, and mentoring youth with refugee status. Workshop sessions showcase exemplary program models\, collaborations\, research\, and innovations that have positive implications for strengthening the mentoring field. \n**UPDATE: The 2022 National Mentoring Summit is transitioning to a fully virtual event. \nAlthough we were originally very excited to host a hybrid conference\, the rapid spread of COVID-19 and the strain on our healthcare and travel industries have created a need to change course. Although we had hoped to see some of our speakers\, guests\, and young people in-person this year\, we know that our community will pivot gracefully\, leveraging the fully virtual format to grow attendance and engagement. We look forward to seeing you virtually on January 26-28 as we convene in celebration of National Mentoring Month\, our collective achievements\, and our vision for the future.
