Grab your coffee or tea, and join your mentoring program peers and MENTOR Virginia on Wednesday, May 11th from 9:00 – 10:00 am for Community Coffee Hour. We’ll be celebrating Mental Health Awareness Month with Marcy Thornhill from Kollege and Kareer 4 Youth, who will join us for a conversation about helping youth stay safe while using social media, including how mentors and programs can help buffer some of the negative impacts of social media on young people. Some questions Marcy will be answering:

  • How can mentors and mentoring programs support youth who may be experiencing negative effects from social media?
  • How can mentors, mentoring programs, and families help keep youth safe on social media?
  • What should a mentor, mentoring program, or parent do if they learn that a young person is being bullied over social media?

MENTOR Virginia will virtually host Community Coffee Hour every 2nd Wednesday of the month with mentoring program staff to create space for peer-to-peer learning and resource sharing, and to address issues you and your organization might be facing during the pandemic and beyond. We hope to see you at an upcoming Community Coffee Hour!
